Pete Davidson, Who Lost His Firefighter Dad In Line Of Duty On 9/11, Gives Honest Thoughts On Trump's New Claim

Pete Davidson is speaking out about that claim of Donald Trump‘s.

This year, just days before 9/11, President Trump claimed firefighters physically lifted him and ran from an unstable building near Ground Zero after the attacks of September 11, 2001:

“I was building a big building in New York, and I took the whole crew down there right after this happened. The United States Steel building was creaking, really creaking, and we thought it was going to fall down. We thought it was coming down on top of us, and two firemen, big, strong guys. And I’m not the smallest guy in the world. They grabbed me under the arms, said, ‘Got to get out of here.’ And they literally lifted me up. This is not easy to do. I’m big. They lifted me up and they started running with me.”

The claim quickly went under the microscope as fact checkers couldn’t find any proof. Trump responded online, clarifying:

“I was there, obviously not on the same day as the collapse, but shortly thereafter, with a large group of Construction Workers,. Everything I said was exactly accurate.”

Trump’s story went viral, and now, in a new interview with Variety, Pete is asked how he feels about the story — especially since his father was a firefighter who lost his life on 9/11. Pete compares Trump to the “drunk uncle” everyone knows, but cautions:

“Nothing that guy says is surprising anymore. It’s sad that it’s to the point where it’s so ridiculous that you’re like, ‘Yeah, whatever.’ He’s the drunk uncle, but he has the keys to the nukes. That’s the problem.”
