The gun wielder told police that he had been drinking and accidentally dropped the handgun — which struck the woman in the upper torso after it went off.
The 40-year-old woman was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition, but later upgraded to stable.
David Leibman of the Renton Police Department told reporters:

“We have witnesses that say he came into the theater and appeared intoxicated. He went in and took a seat in theater No. 9 and was fumbling with a pistol when it went off and struck someone sitting in front of him.”

The shooter has not yet been identified, but he is currently in custody and could face a number of charges.
