Lil’ Kim started quite the conversation over the weekend when she posted a series of selfies on social media (above) showcasing her unrecognizable new look.
The New York native simply captioned the collage:
“Miami Heat!!! ├░┼╕ΓÇ¥┬Ñ├░┼╕┼Æ┼╛├░┼╕╦£┬ì”
It didn’t take long before the Internet took notice to the rapper’s lighter skin, blonde hair, and airbrushed appearance.

One fan commented on Instagram:
“Grew up listening to and respecting this chick! Now I feel like the lil Kim I was a fan of died…and is being replaced by som Kardashian wannabe! Self hatred is indeed a terminal illness! She needs help!”
While other commenters questioned:
“What’s wrong with being dark skin I’m not understanding”
“OMG Please what’s wrong with you? And thank for the message that you are sending out to the young black girls!!!”
The whole situation started an ongoing debate regarding self-love and the possible influence the media had on Kim to change her appearance:
Lil Kim is a prime example of how hard it can be to love yourself. Self love is truly hard to come by for some. Some may never even find it

Queen Bee herself didn’t directly respond to the controversy, but she did post a throwback photo captioned:
“I was gonna post this pic for #SuckADickSaturday ├óΓé¼┬╝├»┬╕┬Å but#SuckADickSunday ├óΓé¼┬╝├»┬╕┬Å will have to do! Happy Sunday! Me and my bitch @cnvshaka the Gabbana Girls.”
