On Sunday, Ryan made headlines again after he wished his dog Carter Lochte a happy 8th birthday. While the gesture itself isn’t a big deal, it soon became a story after some internet sleuths realized the swimmer had wished Carter a happy 8th birthday two times before.

Ha! Either R.L. isn’t too great at math or he’s floating down a river we like to call DENIAL.
What’s funny is, this ridiculous mixup comes on the heels of the swimmer’s Rio robbery controversy. You think the athlete would triple-check his facts after his web of lies fell apart in August!

Following the gaffe, Ryan deleted the 2016 tweet and replaced it with an updated message which read:
