The end is nigh!
While the world has been distracted by Donald Trump‘s #GoldenShowerGate scandal and his absurd outbursts during his first press conference, the U.S. Senate has been busy trying to undo Obamacare!
On Wednesday night, the Senate voted 51-48 to instruct committees to start drafting legislation that would repeal President Barack Obama‘s Affordable Care Act.

Wednesday’s vote approves committees of both the House and Senate to draft repeal legislation by January 27. At that point, the branches of government need to approve the legislation before a repeal can go through.
It’s widely known that Republicans have been seeking to repeal Obamacare — the thing that gave health coverage to 20 MILLION previously uninsured Americans — and it’s possible the process could take months. But what’s worse is Republicans don’t even have a solid plan to replace the ACA!
As a result, many Americans with health problems took to Twitter in the last 24 hours to express their concerns over the insurance changes, and to show their support for the ACA, saying:
ACA is not perfect but it saved me & millions of others with pre-existing conditions. Improve it, but don’t take it away. Please. #SaveACA

As a Stage 3 cancer survivor I’m ineligible for life insurance and soon won’t be able to afford health insurance. Is this how “great” feels?

@MsPackyetti my dad has cancer (in remission). He had no ins & was denied before ACA. He almost died. ACA literally saved his life. #saveACA

I have a chronic disease. #SaveACA means I can be self-employed with coverage and schedule work around my illness. Without it? Who knows. https://t.co/1o37lzMd8K

I have cystic fibrosis. If the ACA is repealed people like me will lose coverage. People like me will die. #SavetheACA

As a veteran my health insurance is covered under the ACA. #SavetheACA

Dear @GOP,
If you’re proud to kick 20 million people off health insurance, don’t sneak it by late at night like cowards.
#SaveACA

1. Awake in the middle of the night drafting a letter/script to give to friends to e-mail or call reps tomorrow, re: ACA.

2. Without the protections in the ACA, I will run out of health insurance in 1-2 years thanks to the reinstatement of lifetime limits.

This is so incredibly sad!

As for when we might see a more permanent piece of legislation, Donald said on Wednesday that a plan will be submitted as soon as the Senate approves Representative Tom Price — Trump’s nominee to head the Health and Human Services Department.
We can’t even begin to imagine dealing with major health problems during such a tense political climate!
What are your thoughts on the Senate’s late night vote??
