Forget the dress, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have said “yes” to a wedding cake baker!
On Tuesday, Kensington Palace announced that the engaged love birds have selected pastry chef Claire Ptak to design their wedding cake. Of course, Miz Ptak is quite qualified as she’s the owner of the London-based bakery, Violet Bakery.

Alongside the photo of her (above), the palace officials revealed the special flavor guests can expect:
Prince Harry and Ms. Markle have asked Claire to create a lemon elderflower cake that will incorporate the bright flavours of spring. It will be covered with buttercream and decorated with fresh flowers.

Ummm, YUM. And it’s no surprise that the twosome went with the California native, as Miz Markle previously interviewed the pastry expert for her former lifestyle website, The Tig. It’s said that Claire utilizes “seasonal and organic ingredients in her cakes.” We can dig it.
Claire opened her bakery back in 2010 after previously studying under the celebrated Alice Water of Chez Panisse. She also worked at The Anchor and Hope in London and ran a stall at the Broadway Market. LOVES it.
While Claire is an industry vet, there is no denying that this gig is definitely a life changing one. Following the announcement, Ptak gushed in a statement of her own:
“I can’t tell you how delighted am to be chosen to make Prince Harry and Ms. Markle’s wedding cake. Knowing that they really share the same values as I do about food provenance, sustainability, seasonality and most importantly flavor, makes this the most exciting event to be a part of.”
We bet. For those lucky enough to have been invited to the royal wedding, they’ll get a chance to taste the delicious cake on May 19. Yup, the palace happily shared that Harry and Meghan “are looking forward to sharing the cake with guests at their wedding.”
