While the cause of Verne Troyer‘s death hasn’t officially been released yet, insiders say he may have tried to intentionally drink himself to death.
Sources familiar with the death investigation tell TMZ that the Austin Powers actor had three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system when he was rushed to the hospital earlier this month.
The source alleges that Verne told the 911 dispatcher and a hospital official he was suicidal when he called in distress, with three times the .08 legal limit of alcohol in his system.

The 49-year-old, who had been battling alcoholism for years, reportedly became unresponsive when he was at the hospital and was transferred to another facility better suited to care for him.
TMZ was told that Verne’s organs started failing and he was put on life support. Sadly, his health continued to decline until life support was pulled on Saturday.
Toxicology results are still pending.
