More than a week after nearly losing her life to what was reportedly an extremely serious overdose, Demi Lovato has just released her first public statement about the incident, and her recovery.

Speaking directly to her fans through her Instagram account, Lovato had this to say about nearly losing her life, and going through the beginnings of the recovery process (below):

Wow.
We’ll have more soon about where this recovery will take her, to be sure, but it’s at least a very encouraging sign for her health that Demi and her team were able to release a statement like this at this point in time.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with her in the hopes that she’ll fight this battle with all she has, and get well soon.
