Woman Dreams Of Swallowing Engagement Ring & Discovers She Actually Did It In Her Sleep!

Dreams do come true… just maybe not the dreams you’re hoping for!

A San Diego woman took to social media last week to share the bizarre story of how she accidentally swallowed her engagement ring in her sleep — the same night she dreamt about swallowing the very same ring “to protect it”!

Jenna Evans recalled the dream in a Facebook post: she and fiancé Bobby Howell were “in a very sketchy situation involving a high speed train and bad guys.” She explained:

“(Bobby) told me I had to swallow my ring to protect it; so I popped that sucker off, put it in my mouth and swallowed it with a glass of water.”

Evans apparently woke up Wednesday morning to discover her engagement ring was missing. As it turned out, her body reenacted the dream at some point during the night, and her ring was now somewhere in her stomach.

After realizing what had happened, the couple was rather stunned. Evans wrote:

“We laughed pretty hard for about an hour and a half, called my mom, laughed until we were crying, googled ‘do other adults swallow rings’ because kids do it all the time, but apparently it’s less common for adults.”

The pair then drove to urgent care where she had to explain to doctors what happened.

She continued:

“The doctor ordered an Xray and seemed pretty shocked when she walked back in with a second doctor and showed me that sure enough, my ring was right there in my stomach! I could definitely feel it in my guts, it was starting to really hurt and make us nervous.”

Thankfully, doctors decided to remove the metal object by performing an upper endoscopy, a procedure using a flexible tube with a camera to see the lining of the gastrointestinal tract.

Evans told KGTV she’s glad doctors didn’t want her to pass the ring naturally, as she might not have been able to still appreciate the symbol of love the same way.

But fortunately, everything worked out in the end. She concluded in her post:

“Everything went great, they found my ring just beyond my stomach in my intestines, retrieved it and gave it to Bobby, not me… We’re still getting married and all is right with the world.”
