Hailey Bieber Says 'Marriage Is Always Going To Be Hard' Ahead Of Her Second Wedding To Justin

It sounds like Hailey Baldwin has learned a lot about life and love through her marriage to Justin Bieber!

On Friday, the pair celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary (congrats!) and we truly can’t believe how fast time flies! As you know, the couple tied the knot in a secret, surprise courthouse ceremony in New York City on September 13, 2018.

Ahead of their second round of nuptials in front of friends, family, and God later this month, the 22-year-old is reflecting on how she and her husband continue to make their relationship work.

In the cover story for Vogue Australia‘s October 2019 issue, the supermodel admitted she still believes “marriage is hard” and that all “good relationships” require effort. In reference to the pair’s February joint cover feature for Vogue, she said:

“I said that when we had first married. Look, marriage is always going to be hard and I think good relationships are the relationships that you put the work into.”

Mrs. Bieber explained she made her initial remarks when “a zillion people who had a zillion opinions” were watching their every move. She continued:

“Specifically, I said that when there were a lot of new things. I had never lived with someone before. I never had to cohabit with somebody in that way, so I was learning how to share space with someone for the first time.”

We can empathize with Hailey’s feelings here — dating, let alone being married at a young age, in the public eye is no small feat.

But, at the same time, even we were a bit perplexed to hear her wax poetic about how difficult things were for ’em so early on. Whatever happened to the literal honeymoon phase?

Anyway, the starlet says things are much “easier” for her and the Biebs these days. While noting how they’ve learned to compromise and work on things as a team, she added:

“We’ve found a rhythm. We have more fun together, which is what should happen when you spend more time with someone you love. If you don’t want to compromise you can’t be in a relationship.”

You got that right!

Hail also reiterated how she and Justin’s shared Christian faith has strengthened their bond:

“I grew up in a Christian church, same as my husband, and I’ve been vocal about my beliefs. That’s something that makes a part of our relationship easier, too. When you both believe in the same thing, it eases conflict.”

We hope they can continue to keep up the positive attitude now and for years to come!
