Driving is a privilege, and one sick asshat in South Carolina should have this privilege revoked after straight up hitting a school crossing officer in a crosswalk with their vehicle.
According to Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, a crossing officer had just finished guiding several children outside the Charleston Charter School for Math and Science on Friday, Jan. 24, 2020 when a car approached.
Despite the fact that the officer was still in the crosswalk with her stop sign raised, the sedan accelerated toward her — and went on to make contact with the officer, who still had the right of way. Completely ignoring the officer’s pleas to stop, the driver continued to move forward, brushing the officer as it passed her and sped away.

Wow. WTF is wrong with people!?
The officer suffered minor injuries. Meanwhile, police are trying to track down the vehicle, and are asking those who know anything about this car or the identity of its driver to call the Sheriff’s Office at 843-202-1700 or Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111.
The department added more details about the driver in a Facebook post, writing:
“Take a look at this surveillance video of the incident and still images of the car. The small four-door sedan, likely a Honda Civic or similar, is believed to have paper tags. The driver was described as a black female in her 30s and wearing at the time a blue blazer and pink or purple top.”
The post went on to reveal that this is the second time this month that a CCSO school crossing officer had been struck by a vehicle, noting:
“A motorist was cited Jan. 16 after a crossing officer was struck by a vehicle on Wappoo Road in West Ashley and transported to a hospital. We urge drivers to use extra caution in school zones, follow crossing officers’ directions and yield the right of way until students and crossing officers have exited the crosswalk.”
So scary! What kind of person would do such a thing!?
Officers followed up on Thursday with a clearer picture of the vehicle. In a post on it’s Facebook page, the department wrote:
“Take a look at this new image of the car suspected of hitting a Sheriff’s Office school crossing officer Jan. 24, then leaving the scene. It appears to be a Honda Civic with paper tags.”
