Scientology backed Prop 8!
Crash director Paul Haggis has left the Church of Scientology after being fed up with the church’s support of California’s Proposition 8 banning gay marriage.
He and his wife, actress Deborah Rennard, were both practicing Scientologists after his in-laws introduced them to the church. Apparently, though, his wife’s parents committed a violation of some sort within the church and Haggis and his wife were ordered to break contact with them.
Obviously this was a tumultuous time in their family and Haggis had enough of the “church” BS!
In a strongly-worded letter to Scientology spokesperson, Tommy Davis, Haggis explains his decision:
“And so, after writing this letter, I am fully aware that some of my friends may choose to no longer associate with me, or in some cases work with me…However, I have finally come to the conclusion that I can no longer be a part of this group. Frankly, I had to look no further than your refusal to denounce the church├óΓé¼Γäós anti-gay stance, and the indefensible actions, and inactions, of those who condone this behavior within the organization. I am only ashamed that I waited this many months to act. I hereby resign my membership in the Church of Scientology.”
We wonder what the other celebrity Scientologists have to say for themselves?
We’re looking at you Tom Cruise and John Travolta!
