Star Trek director J.J. Abrams is open to casting William Shatner in a potential Trek sequel!

Abrams revealed on Friday that he wouldn’t mind breaking the canon of the series by bringing Shatner’s character of James T. Kirk back from the dead! Because…they created new rules to play by in the latest Trek film!

“I wouldn’t rule out anything,” said J.J. “The point of creating this independent timeline is to not have the restrictions we had coming into this one. And one of those restrictions was that Kirk was dead.”

Exciting!

As well as Capt. Kirk, Abrams also hopes to bring original Star Trek super-villain Khan Noonien Singh back to the series.

Says J.J.: “The fun of this [new alternate Trek reality] is that the destiny of these characters is in their hands – it’s not constrained by the pre-existing films or TV series… The idea, now that we are in an independent timeline, allows us to use any of the ingredients from the past – or come up with brand-new ones – to make potential stories.”

Well, that is if a sequel is even made!

But judging by the major $$$$$ Trek raked in, we’d put our money on a Trek trilogy! At least!
