Ben Affleck Opens Up About Wanting To Work More With Jennifer Garner & Academy Bias Against Jennifer Lopez

Inside Jennifer Lopez & Jennifer Garner Relationship After Ben Affleck Divorces!

Ben Affleck seems really happy these days!

That’s the takeaway from his new interview with Variety, in which he talks business, his ex-wives, and more.

On the topic of social media and its rise as a necessity in the film industry, Ben acknowledges that influencing, when done right, is an honest day’s work. Choosing to mention both his ex-wives, Jennifer Garner and Jennifer Lopez, he says:

“Now you’ve got your social media identity. You work to develop that. I’ve seen both Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Garner do amazing jobs cultivating and accruing value in those spaces. Don’t think that’s not real work. I couldn’t do it. What am I going to do, unbox something?”

Ha! Not gonna lie, we’re sure LOTS of people would actually LOVE to see Ben unbox something. Him just picking up the packages on his front porch was already highly memeable, so could you imagine the glee people would feel watching him unbox random PR boxes? Dooo it, dooooo it!

And, hey, maybe Jennifer Garner could help! After all, he does say he wants to work with her more. When the trade talks about his upcoming film Animals, they mention how it was originally supposed to star Jen and Matt Damon. But then Matt had to bail and Ben came in. When he did, though, he didn’t think it was a good idea to have Jen play his fictional wife after being his IRL partner.

“In a movie, the illusion has to be the thing.”

But does that mean it’s a closed door forever, being on film again with his former Daredevil co-star? Nope! He admits that while playing a married couple would be too obvious, there’s other options:

“I still want to find something to do with her.”

Yeah, we’re sure lots of producers still want it too. Nothing draws in audiences like IRL intrigue.

And speaking of… what about J.Lo? Any hopes there for an on-screen reunion there?

When he’s asked why he thinks Lopez got snubbed by the Oscars for her work in Hustlers, he sings her praises:

“I’m biased. I have an enormous amount of respect and admiration for what she can do.”

So what gives? Why didn’t she get a nomination? Ben thinks:

“What I’ve found with awards is that sometimes the degree of commercial success for things doesn’t always correlate to my taste. It’s a part of this weird, subjective business that people bring a lot of their own stuff to. I don’t always think the right person won the right award. But guess what? I don’t think you die and go to heaven, and God says, ‘This was the actual best picture in 1986.’ At the end of the day, it’s just a bunch of people voting on movie prizes.”

A very level-headed way to think in a fickle industry!

After all, J.Lo may not have an Oscar, but she’ll be remembered by far more fans and for far longer than most who do. You can’t deny her career transcends trophies!

And from the sound of this interview, his relationship with both his exes clearly transcends any breakup. They may not be romantically linked anymore, but there’s still so much love. Aww.
