Netflix is taking on the Aaron Hernandez saga — and it looks as twisted and gruesome as the real story turned out to be.
The now-deceased NFL star made headlines more for his post-playing career activities, like when he died from suicide while in prison back in 2017. At the time, he had been serving a life sentence for a 2013 murder. And shockingly, just days before his death, he’d actually been acquitted on a separate double homicide charge.

Now, with the new documentary Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez, the folks at Netflix are all set to tell the story of the one-time professional football star’s incredible fall from grace. The doc is being produced by the same studio that recently released both Evil Genius and Making a Murderer, so it appears this will be yet another in the long line of high-end true-crime fare that should do very well on the streaming service.
On Thursday afternoon, Netflix released the very first teaser trailer from the upcoming documentary, which features audio of a recorded phone call of Hernandez’s to an unidentified woman, as you can see (below):

For those interested in getting yet another look into this fascinating (and tragic) story, Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez will begin streaming across Netflix in less than a month — beginning on January 15, 2020.
