An adult film star tragically lost his life over the weekend, apparently after stepping in to protect his cousin.
Saiveon Hopkins, known online by his porn name Jay Hefner, died in a shooting on Sunday while on a trip from his home in Ontario, California to visit family in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Lincoln Police Department revealed in a news release they responded to alerts of shots fired at around 1:30 a.m. local time, and found two men with gunshot wounds. One of them was a man in his 40s who sustained a “non-life-threatening” shot to the calf. The other was 24-year-old Saiveon, who suffered a shot to his chest. They were rushed to a local hospital and “despite immediate life-saving measures by police officers and medical personnel,” Saiveon passed away, according to the release.
So sad.
In a GoFundMe set up by family friend Kyra Miller, it was revealed the late adult entertainer was shot while protecting his cousin. Kyra wrote:
“It’s never easy to lose a loved one but losing a child is the most painful loss one can ever experience. On September 8, 2024, my close friend Jeni Brown, lost her son due to a senseless act of gun violence while trying to protect his cousin from physical violence in Lincoln, NE.”
How honorable. But all the more heartbreaking at the same time!

Kyra continued went on to reveal that Saiveon was the father of a 10-month-old daughter:
“Saiveon Hopkins was visiting his family in Lincoln for a birthday celebration and was to return to his home in Ontario, CA following the weekend. Saiveon was a shining light that was there for everyone who loved him. Father to a 10 month old daughter, who adored him.”

On top of raising his own child, Saiveon also helped care for his siblings amid his mother’s health battle:
“He also helped his terminally ill mother care for his siblings. Due to the financial strain already placed on the family for Jeni’s medical care and the unexpected passing, I am wanting to help raise funds to relieve them of the financial burden during an already devastating time. What a tragic situation.
The LPD has not yet apprehended the shooter, but an investigation is underway. They wrote in an update on Monday:
“The Lincoln Police Department is continuing to investigate two weekend shootings and is requesting the public share information with law enforcement regarding these ongoing investigations. First, we want to send our condolences to the families of the victims of this weekend’s incidents. Any shooting in the City of Lincoln is unacceptable and when someone succumbs to their injuries, our hearts go out to their loved ones and our attention focuses on holding those responsible accountable.”
