And we have officially reached a whole new level of disgusting in this world.
Yesterday, Afghan President Hamid Karzai pardoned a 19-year-old woman who had been serving a 12-year prison sentence for having sex out of wedlock…even though she was raped BY A RELATIVE!
In an incredibly nauseating turn, the woman agreed to marry the rapist in an effort to get out of prison. Poor thing!
While in prison, the woman gave birth to the rapist’s child, and she has been raising her behind bars.
Here’s what European Union’s Ambassador/Special Representative to Afghanistan Vygaudas Usackas had to say about it:
“Her case has served to highlight the plight of Afghan women, who 10 years after the overthrow of the Taliban regime often continue to suffer in unimaginable conditions, deprived of even the most basic human rights.”
How tragic that this woman’s ONLY way to get out of jail was to marry a relative who raped and impregnated her…and who seems to have gone unpunished for his actions.
