This is kinda mind blowing: 2 separate San Fransisco 49ers have just claimed to have never taken part of the video the team recorded for the It Gets Better campaign — which supports the LGBT community.
They specifically say they weren’t a part of the ‘gay video.’
The thing is, though, they totally were. Not only can you clearly see them making statements in the video (above), but they’re also LABELED BY NAME.
So what’s the deal??
Well, with all the anti-homosexual stuff going around the NFL, especially with the latest Chris Culliver grossness, we don’t think it’s a stretch that both Ahmad Brooks and Isaac Sopoaga were taking part in the video not knowing what it was for, and are actually afraid that people will now think they’re gay too — at the very least, within the sport — because of it.
When asked, here’s what Ahmad said:
“This is America and if someone wants to be gay, they can be gay. It’s their right. But I didn’t make any video.”
Then he was showed the video:
“Oh, that. It was an anti-bullying video, not a gay video.”
WRONG.
While it does take an anti-bullying stance, it’s a message for the gay youth out there! Sopoaga also did not remember the video, and did not know that it had anything to do with the LGBT community. How wack is that??
UGH. It’s time to treat people like people and respect them for their talent in the NFL, and not to be afraid of someone who loves other men!
This is totally enough for us to not worry about how the 49ers do this Sunday!
