Alex Cooper Reveals Gestational Diabetes Diagnosis -- Says She 'Almost' Broke Down In Tears Over The News!

Mommy gang! Alex Cooper has a vulnerable update about her pregnancy!

The Call Her Daddy podcast host took TikTok on Thursday to reveal she has been diagnosed with gestational diabetes while pregnant with her and her husband Matt Kaplan’s first baby. And while Alex feels like she could “cry” over the news, she won’t — at least not on the internet! However, she admittedly “almost did!” The Unwell Network founder explained:

“I’m not gonna cry on the internet because I’ve never cried on the internet, but when I tell you, I almost did. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. It is when the placenta hormones cause insulin resistance, AKA your pancreas cannot create enough insulin to keep your blood sugar normal. I was told that anyone can get this, no matter what your prior weight, diet, fitness level — literally anyone is susceptible to getting it.”

And Alex got very real about her feelings over the diagnosis! She shared that it was so “upsetting” and “isolating” for the first few days after finding out because she took it out on herself:

“When I got this diagnosis, the first couple days, I was really hard on myself. It felt very isolating, like, as much as my family and my husband and everyone was there for me, I just felt … [like] it’s me on an island. During pregnancy, there’s already so much emotionally that you’re going through. I am so blessed, and there’s been so many incredible parts of my pregnancy, but it’s a lot. Obviously, my first instinct was, ‘Oh, my God, I want my child to be OK and I want my baby to be healthy, and I’ll do whatever it takes.’”

But at the same time, Alex said she is “struggling” with it as she is trying to adjust her lifestyle for the safety and wellbeing of her and her unborn child:

“It’s not just about eating healthy and exercising. We can do all that, and it still may not work. I think that feeling is really frustrating as a woman who is [in] protective mode already of this baby. You’re like, ‘But what do you mean that I can do my best and it still may not work and I may have to go on medication?’”

The social media personality is dealing with a lot right now, especially as she wonders whether she will need to “get induced early” due to the diagnosis or have diabetes even after giving birth. And the unknown at the moment is, understandably, a bit scary! However, she has found some comfort in doing online research and reading other moms’ experiences with gestational diabetes:

“That’s been the most helpful so far. It’s a really defeating feeling, but I’m trying to not let myself get defeated. All anyone tells me is, ‘Right now, you cannot attract any negative energy.’ I need to just send bliss to this child and be positive and happy, so that’s what we’re going to do.”

Hopefully everything will be okay! We’re sending all the positive energy Alex’s way. Watch her video (below):
