Post-partum depression something a lot of mothers go through.
Motherhood is probably the most magical yet equally overwhelming experience any woman can live through. Bringing a new life into the world is crazy awesome, but it is also a lot of hard work so it’s natural to feel a little dazed at times.
Actress, Ali Landry who has just given birth to her second child, Marcelo, in October knows how you feel all about the baby blues.
The beauty queen has some encouraging words for mothers like her!
Ail writes:
“Don├óΓé¼Γäót worry if you sometimes feel like you can├óΓé¼Γäót get it together, it happens to all of us. The important thing is to find a way to cope with these feelings.
Throughout both my pregnancies, I did acupuncture and took a personalized mix of herbs that helped me deal with crazy hormones and post-partum issues. The first one went pretty smoothly, but during this second pregnancy I inadvertently left my herbs behind, as well as the placenta I had encapsulated, when I left to shoot a movie in Mexico.
What a world of difference it made to not have my medicines. I felt emotionally overwhelmed, anxious and had several mini-breakdowns. Fortunately once I got back home and got back on my herbal remedies I started to feel much better, but this whole episode allowed me a brief glimpse into the inner turmoil that some women experience following the birth of a child.
My case was definitely more on the ├óΓé¼╦£baby blues├óΓé¼Γäó end of the spectrum rather than full-on post-partum depression, so I would never claim to be an expert on the subject, but it was enough for me to realize how real and serious this is. Some women feel embarrassed or guilty about to struggling with these feelings because we always feel like we need to be perfect and have everything under control, and anything less than that means we├óΓé¼Γäóre a failure. Ladies, that is just not the case. Depression ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ post-partum or otherwise ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ is nothing to be ashamed of. It├óΓé¼Γäós OK to feel lost, the important thing is to reach out to someone and get the help you need. Not just for your own sake, but for the sake of your baby who needs you.”
So inspiring!
