Oh my. We couldn’t imagine that this situation could get any uglier…but it has.
Shawn Portwood, father to Teen Mom star Amber Portwood, has chosen to speak to The National Enquirer about his daughter’s relationship to Gary Shirley, the man who fathered their two year old daughter. Shawn believes that Amber covered for Gary and actually started sleeping him when she was just 15 years old, which if true constitutes as “statutory rape.”
As viewers of the show are already aware, when the couple started dating, Gary was 19 and Amber 15. They claim that the two of them waited until she was 16 to have sex and Amber got pregnant on their first time. However, Shawn insists that the story’s a lie and had he known at the time it was going on, he “would have killed him.”
He added that Gary got Amber pregnant “as a means of controlling her” as he was apparently “terrified that she would leave him.”
Now, seeing as this was three years ago and there is no way to prove it, we don’t see why Shawn is throwing this mess around. Oh wait, yes we do – attention. But the real question is, is it for himself or to garner some sympathy for his daughter, who honestly could use all the help she can get right now?
