She may be the American Housewife, but this is some full-on Real Housewives legal drama.
It all started in May of 2018 when Katy Mixon, who plays Katie Otto on ABC‘s hit family show American Housewife, hired a nanny named Laree Hammer because she was “urgently in need of her help” to take care of her newborn daughter Elektra.
However, by September, Mixon says she and husband Breaux Greer, a former Olympic athlete, were displeased enough with the nanny’s performance they had to let her go.

Then eleven months later, they say their former employee came back demanding money, having “concocted a series of harassment claims” to extort them.
The new parents filed a lawsuit seeking $100,000 for breach of the non-disclosure agreement she signed.
Hammer responded with her own lawsuit, saying she was sexually harassed by the couple, allegedly speaking to her openly about their sex life.
In one instance she says Greer asked her how long she’d been in a relationship, and when she answered he responded:
“So you’ve had no other dick for 22 years?”
And asked her:
“Don’t you ever look at another man and think, ‘I want that dick’?”
Hammer also says Mixon once told her she and her husband had sex in the pool and that’s where their daughter was conceived. She says Greer once joked about their naked son, saying:
“Look at that dick. That’s a big dick. I know he’s my son.”
Hammer says she was more than offended by the alleged frank sex talk.
In her legal filing, she says she “rejected every one of Greer’s sexual advances and objected to the sexual explicit commentary and banter regularly engaged in by and between Greer and Mixon.”
Hammer is seeking for $500,000 in damages, $150,000 in back pay, and $150,000 in labor law penalties.
Well, Mixon isn’t taking these claims lying down.
In a new legal filing obtained by The Blast, the TV star lays out her side, writing:
“I had a caesarian section to deliver Elektra that required six weeks of recovery, and I had to return to the set of my television show in July. We attempted to be as kind and accommodating to Laree as possible even though there were escalating problems with Laree’s performance and conduct.”
What were those problems?
Oh, you have no idea… The list is long and CRAY! Mixon says Hammer is guilty of:
(1) making inappropriate comments to us, such as comments about my undergarments
(2) wearing inappropriate attire around our house such as two-piece bikinis
Pausing there. She wore what now?
For her job as a nanny?? For what possible reason?? OK, moving on…
(3) divulging inappropriate information about her own personal problems and family issues
(4) sleeping in areas of the house where she should not have been sleeping
(5) failing to comply within the agreed schedule for her work by repeatedly requesting to leave early
(6) neglecting to pick up trash she left around the house
(7) forgetting to flush her vomit in the toilets of the house nearly five different times
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
FIVE TIMES??
Why is she always vomiting at their home? There’s more…
(8) watching television throughout the day
(9) constantly taking personal calls during work hours
(10) showing pictures of the previous child she cared for in violation of her prior non-disclosure agreement
(11) causing problems with other persons providing services to us
(12) lying to us about issues involving the care of Elektra
(13) being combative with us when confronted with problems
(14) failing to follow the feeding schedule for Elektra and not charting feedings, going on personal visits during times she agreed to be at the house
(16) revealing personal information about us
(17) failing to log information about our baby into an app called “Baby Connect,” even though we asked her to do it multiple times.
Phwew! That is a LOT! Fran Fine this woman is not!
However, the big one for the couple seems to be #16, the breach of privacy claim…
“We were informed that Laree shared intimate and private details about our lives with others and that she often spoke negatively about our family. We also know that Laree had been sharing our home address because people Laree knew visited Laree and brought food over to our home on more than one occasion.”
Mixon says ultimately they decided she had to go, “after we watched video footage on our baby monitor of Laree neglecting Elektra in a mechanical sleep bassinet when Elektra was fully awake for a prolonged period of time.”
Oof. That’s no good.
