Amy Duggar Opens Up About The 'Darkness' Inside Famous Christian Reality TV Family Following Multiple Child Sex Abuse Scandals

As you know, earlier this year Joseph Duggar became the second member of the family who got caught up in a child abuse scandal. He was arrested in March, following his older brother’s 2021 arrest and conviction. It’s been absolutely horrible seeing all the details coming out following this family’s run-ins with the law, and Amy said in a new interview that she sadly wasn’t surprised by it.

While chatting with Dory Jackson on Wednesday, the 39-year-old said:

“I really kept those boundaries in place after Josh because I knew it didn’t end with Josh. I just knew it didn’t.”

So sad… She continued, explaining that she had good reasons for keeping her distance from her immediate relatives:

“Even though they’re my family and it’s horrible and there’s a lot of darkness, that’s not my life.”

This is all still affecting her, though, as you can imagine. Amy said when Josh was arrested she was “a disaster” — but now that she’s going through it again with Joseph and his wife Kendra Duggar, she’s trying to cope with it in a healthier way:

“I’m gonna try to take care of myself because last time, when Josh had his terrible scandal and went away for a long time, I gained weight. I ate comfort food.”

How she’s doing so far with the news of Joseph, though — she admits it’s been tough:

“You’re never prepared for that kind of news. You know, it just kind of stops you in your tracks. I immediately cried. immediately had instant tears, and I was like, No, not again’.”

Heartbreaking.

She even revealed that she sadly predicted all this in her book, Holy Disruptor:

“In my book, I literally talk about how there’s probably going to be another. There’s going to be some more scandals, because I don’t believe it just starts and stops with Josh. I just don’t believe that. When I found out who that person was that is now allegedly having another scandal and have hurt another innocent child, it just broke my heart on who it was.”

And even though Amy says she can’t help but “care” — they’re family, after all — she will be keeping strict “boundaries”. We don’t blame her! Watch the full interview (below):
