It’s a serious Q&A time.
Dave and his wife in New York are having a hard time communicating with each other.
Thankfully, Amy Malin, Perezitos‘ pro party planner, organizer, and all around motherhood expert knows just how to keep the lines of communication open with your partner.
Dave’s concern:
Good morning Amy. Since my wife and I had kids all we do is fight all the time. We used to have so much fun together and now we’re always at each others’ throats. HELP! I want my wife back!
Here’s what Amy has to say:
Hi Dave. I’m sorry to hear about the issues you and your wife are having, but you’re not alone. Unfortunately, there are lots of couples who experience a dramatic change for the worse in their relationship once they have kids, but I’m here to tell you it doesn’t have to be that way. My husband and I have some couple friends with kids who would rather poke their own eye out with a pencil then hang out with spouse/partner. It is sad but true. This doesn’t have to be your reality. Consider this, you didn’t choose the family you were born into and you and your wife didn’t choose your children either. The one person you did choose was your wife and she choose to spend her life with you. That is a very special choice you both made and one worth protecting and honoring. Of course your life is filled with more stress and responsibility when you have kids, but it isn’t the end of your life together as a couple. It should be the next chapter to your amazing life as husband and wife. You need to have harmony at home with your spouse/partner. Don’t neglect each other or forsake your relationship as a couple. Make sure you make time to spend together alone as a couple doing the things you love to do together. This is an important investment in your present and future happiness. Your kids will grow up one day and they will leave the nest. Then, you and your spouse/partner will be alone together again as a couple and so so you need to make sure you have built a solid foundation of love, respect and fun to enjoy your golden years together. Remember the reasons why you chose each other and don’t let yourself get caught up and overwhelmed by life’s crazy twists and turns. Enjoy the ride with your partner and shower your kids and your partner with the love they deserve. Wishing your family the best!
Just keep things honest with each other. You can’t go wrong with that.
