Stick that in your rifle and smoke it, NRA.
The National Rifle Association is used to being hated by a good portion of the American population — but after the Parkland mass shooting, they’ve done pissed off Leslie Knope, too.
Following CNN‘s heated town hall on gun control on Wednesday night, the association tweeted a thank you to their spokesperson Dana Loesch for representing them, using a GIF of Amy Poehler‘s character from Parks and Recreation to do so.

That proved to be a big mistake, as those involved with creating the NBC show would not stand for the NRA using Leslie Knope to promote its agenda.
The tweet was such a misfire, in fact, it sparked a response from Leslie herself!
Michael Schur, creator of the sitcom, tweeted at the NRA demanding they take down the tweet — complete with a message from Poehler from beyond the Twitterverse:
.@DLoesch thank you for being the voice of over 5 Million #NRA members. pic.twitter.com/WDz7vujXfM

Hi, please take this down. I would prefer you not use a GIF from a show I worked on to promote your pro-slaughter agenda.
Also, Amy isn’t on twitter, but she texted me a message: “Can you tweet the NRA for me and tell them I said fuck off?” https://t.co/YXSdzCdvdd

Ha!
Poehler wasn’t the only Parks and Rec alum to fire shots. Adam Scott, who played Ben Wyatt, summed up how we all feel about the NRA exploiting our dear Leslie, tweeting:
Hey @nra please stay the fuck away from Leslie Knope. https://t.co/Lr2HCeN7qp

And so did Nick Offerman:
.@NRA @DLoesch our good-hearted show and especially our Leslie Knope represent the opposite of your pro-slaughter agenda – take it down and also please eat shit. ├░┼╕ΓÇí┬║├░┼╕ΓÇí┬╕ https://t.co/Ar2YF4yoic

Something we can all agree on!
