Amy Schumer, Blake Lively, & Katie Holmes BLAST Sexist Magazine Cover!

Ugh, this is so not OK!
An image has been circulating online in recent weeks showing a side-by-side image of the covers for teen magazine’s Girls’ Life and Boys’ Life (which are surprisingly not affiliated) — and now, Amy Schumer, Blake Lively, and Katie Holmes all have something to say about it!
On the cover targeted for young girls, the headlines read phrases along the lines of “Wake up pretty!,” “Your Dream Hair,” “100+ ways to SLAY on the first day,” “The new denim checklist,” and “How to have fun, make friends and get all A’s.”
On the boys version, the words “Explore Your Future” are blasted across the front with images of professional tools, like a computer and stethoscope.
Sigh.

And clearly this conversation isn’t anything new.
Earlier this month, mom-of-five, Shoshanna Keats-Jaskoll, took to Facebook to call out the magazine for contributing to the culture of objectifying girls:

Responding to the backlash, founding editor Karen Bokran told Refinery29:

“Are we more than lip gloss and clothes? Of course. It’s OK to like lip gloss or be interested in fashion├óΓé¼┬ª I don’t know how [the problem] became either you like lip gloss and clothes or you like being an astronaut.”

Hmmm.
We’re not so sure this explanation is gonna cut it.
Thoughts???
