While on vacation at a remote Malaysian wildlife revere on Borneo island, an Australian tourist was killed by a pygmy elephant.
Jenna O’Grady Donley, the 25-year-old tourist, died from a fatal goring when the elephant charged.
The wild elephant, about 6-feet-tall, was much shorter than a normal asian elephant, thus the name pygmy.
But it was still enough to inflict the fatal wound that lead to that poor girl’s death.
While her and friends were trekking near their resort she saw the elephant and it is believed they went to within 30 feet of it.
A park ranger recommend that tourists stay at least 130 feet away from the elephants.
Because the pygmy elephant is endangered, authorities will only drive the elephant back into the forest.
So sad.
Our hearts go out the friends and family of that poor girl.
