Jon Gosselin has clearly seen what ex-wife Kate wrote after the release of their son Collin‘s memoir.
In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood is now available online and in bookstores. In it he details his experiences growing up, including claims of abuse directed at him by his mother.
Collin and Kate have been estranged for some time now, and she has repeatedly denied the allegations.

In the aftermath of the book’s release this week, People magazine noticed Kate replying to a fan on social media. The fan wrote to her saying:
“It should be illegal to defame someone that way, but I just wanted to say you are doing a great job keeping your head up through all of this. We love you!”
And Kate replied:
“Thank you so much. I know rational logical ppl or anyone who has dealt with mental illness understands what’s going on here”
This didn’t sit well with Jon. In a statement to UsWeekly, he warns:
“First and foremost, I couldn’t be more proud of my son’s heartbreaking memoir and his mission to help other victims of abuse. Also, let me be very clear: If you continue to falsely label my son Collin as ‘mentally ill,’ you will be held accountable.
As you know, Collin has been evaluated by multiple independent psychiatrists, and that narrative is proven categorically untrue. Repeating false claims about his mental health is damaging to his reputation, his credibility and his future.
Consider this fair warning: The days of using mental health to discredit and silence my son are over.”
Collin slammed Kate’s comment too, telling TMZ:
“My mom has said these things time and time again. The nice thing is, I’ve gotten multiple psychiatric evaluations done. So many, many times. I actually have three independent psychiatric evaluations that have been completed. I’ve passed all of them obviously. And all I have to say is maybe its time for someone else to get one.”
Unfortunately, it does not sound like family healing is going to happen anytime soon for them. Hopefully it can some day. Collin previously told Fox News all he wants from his mother is an apology.
