Angelina Jolie has stood up to cancerous genes, rumors of too much brotherly love, and Billy Bob Thornton.
So, of course, she can master diplomacy at the U.N.!
The actress, who has been involved with the United Nations for over a decade and now serves as a Special Envoy to the High Commissioner for Refugees, appeared before the Security Council in New York yesterday, urging the organization to increase its efforts to end rape in war-torn countries like Syria and The Congo.
From her seat next to the diplomat from Guatemala, Angelina told the Council:
“You set the bar. If the United Nations Security Council sets rape and sexual violence in conflict as a priority it will become one and progress will be made.”
We LOVE how seriously Angie takes her position as a public figure, using her influence to do good all over the world.
To those whom much is given — brains, beauty, Brad Pitt — much is expected, and Saint Angelina ALWAYS exceeds our expectations!!!
Ch-ch-check out a clip from her appearance (below)!
