A major relationship has been restored for Angelina Jolie.
No, not with Brad Pitt — with her estranged father Jon Voight!
Speaking on The Hollywood Reporter‘s Awards Chatter podcast, the First They Killed My Father director revealed that she and her dad have been able to reconnect through a language they can both understand: art!

She told Scott Feinberg:
“Jon and I have gotten to know each other ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ through grandchildren now ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ [and] we’re finding a new relationship. We’ve had some difficulties, [but] through art we’ve been able to talk. It’s the common language.”
Great to hear!
To say the two had difficulties is no understatement. Always having their ups and downs, the pair’s relationship hit rock bottom in 2002 shortly after they played a father and daughter in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.

After the film, the conservative actor told Access Hollywood that his daughter had “serious mental problems,” to which Jolie responded by legally dropping “Voight” from her name.
While the two may be bonding through art and family, there’s one topic they still shy away from. She added:
“We don’t really talk politics well. We talk art very well.”
Sounds like they found a way to make it work. Family is important, y’all!
