Angelina Jolie is still single — despite how things seemed for a while there!
On Monday, reports dropped claiming Angie and British rapper Akala were dating. This after they reportedly spent two nights together at a London hotel, per The Sun. The actress was staying at The Corinthia while in the city for the London premiere of her movie Maria. Akala — who’s been following her around the world during her promo tour — was spotted arriving at the same hotel just after Angie. Per sources, they stayed inside the hotel together for two nights straight before emerging for an intimate dinner at SoHo House. Whoa!!

Eventually, the 40-year-old — who is also a journalist — was shuffled out the back of the hotel via one of Angie’s cars to keep things on the down low. A source claimed:
“They are using separate cars and secret entrances to keep their relationship under wraps, but it’s the real deal.”
Wow!
This came after a report from In Touch back in May, in which the outlet claimed the pair had been secretly dating for “more than a year.” They were seen leaving a hotel together in Venice, too. So, all signs seem to point to a steamy romance… right??
Well… maybe not!! A source is now clapping back at ALL this! On Tuesday, an insider told People that the duo are just friends. Hitting back at the rumors, the source, who is close to the Maleficent star, said she is “close friends with Akala and his partner.” That partner, Chanelle Newman, “has also been at every event” Jolie and Akala have appeared at in recent days, the insider explained. The confidant then urged:
“They all work together. Angelina remains focused on her family and is not dating at this time.”
This is not the first time the source has shut down romance speculation, either. After that In Touch report, they told People in late August:
“She and Akala are not dating. She is friends with him and his partner, Chanelle, who was also there.”
DailyMail.com also heard from a source who denied the rumored sparks. That insider insisted he’s linked to Chanelle, who is his business partner. But this came around after they heard from other insiders claiming Angie and Akala’s connection was growing more serious as he had introduced her to his inner circle. Hmm…
Another People insider added that Akala and Angelina have been friends for “several years” and that they “share the same passion when it comes to social and humanitarian causes.” Well, that’s nice. They explained:
“They did several collabs over the years that focus on global issues like human rights. Angie speaks very highly of him.”
Okay, then!
But then what was that hotel stay about? Was Akala’s partner sneaking around with him too, and reports from the scene just didn’t mention her?? Why all the secrecy? Huh…
