Maddox doesn’t want to be associated with his famous dad in any way!
As you may know, the eldest son of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt distanced himself from his father after he allegedly assaulted and verbally abused the Maria actress while aboard a plane in 2016. Maddox took Angie’s side and recently showed it by dropping “Pitt” from his last name in the credits of his mom’s film Couture, where he worked as an assistant director.

The move upset a close friend of Brad’s, who blamed the Maleficent star for Maddox’s choice — even though he is an adult and can make his own decisions. Welp, the pal better get prepared! Their blood is about to boil because he is now taking the step to make the name change official!
According to TMZ on Thursday, Maddox filed paperwork to drop Pitt from his last name and make his name “Maddox Chivan Jolie” moving forward. The request has not been granted yet, but a ruling should come soon. The 24-year-old’s legal move comes after some of his other siblings chose to ditch the Pitt surname, too! Shiloh legally changed her name to just Shiloh Jolie. Zahara and Vivienne both dropped it, but unofficially.
