They both won Oscars last year, so it’s all good!
In a new interview with Howard Stern, studio head Harvey Weinstein revealed Anne Hathaway was originally given Jennifer Lawrence‘s award-winning role in Silver Linings Playbook alongside Mark Walhberg—instead of Bradley Cooper!
But WHY did the Princess Diaries star leave the mega-successful project?!
Apparently, Annie had some maJOR artistic differences with the films director, David O. Russell as Harvey explained:
“We had Annie and then we had Mark . . . then whatever happened, happened. David and Anne had some creative differences. They didn’t see eye-to-eye.”
And once the original casting didn’t work out, the film’s producers knew they had to switch it up fast:
“Then Jennifer Lawrence and two or three other actress came in, and the minute we saw Jennifer Lawrence’s tape . . . Because I said, ‘How the hell are we gonna replace Annie?’ And then this amazing creature walked in who is a brilliant actress, and so much fun, and she won an Oscar.”
Guess there’s truly a silver lining to anything!
We’re glad J-Law and Brad ended up executing the roles in the end, because they were pure brilliance!
