The second former Bush administration official to defect from the Right, former Secretary of Press Scott McClellan, has officially announced his endorsement for Democratic Presidential Candidate Barack Obama.

He follows in the footsteps of former Secretary of State Colin L. Powell, who announced his Left endorsement last week.

During Bush’s 2000 Presidential campaign, McClellan served as his traveling press secretary. In summer 2003, following the invasion of Iraq, McClellan became the Secretary of Press for the White House after Ari Fleischer stepped down from the position. McClellan resigned after three years, saying he felt deceived by the Bush White House.

Recently McClellan has become better known for his controversial tell-all book, What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception, in which he did all but call Bush a straight-up liar. And, although McClellan’s split from Bush seemed friendly enough, and while White House staff remained diplomatic, some former officials were highly cirtical.

During a taping of D.L. Hughley’s new show on CNN, McClellan told the host he planned on voting for Obama because he feels he is the candidate who can truly bring a much-needed change to the White House.
