Aretha Franklin had no will.
As we reported, last Thursday, the legendary singer passed away at her home in Detroit “due to advanced pancreatic cancer of the neuroendocrine type.” She was 76.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ on Tuesday, the musician died “intestate,” which means she had no will at the time of her passing.
Per Michigan law, Franklin’s 4 kids will share her estate equally.
This news is surprising given the fact that her son Clarence is special needs, and requires financial and other forms of support.
Starting next week, Aretha’s family has organized a multiple-day celebration of her life, beginning with an open casket memorial at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit.
Her funeral will then be held on August 31 at the Greater Grace Temple for close friends and family.
