Ashley Judd's Husband Dario Franchitti Retires From Racing Due To Injury!

After years of dominating the sport, Dario Franchitti has decided to walk away from competitive racing for good!
Ashley Judd‘s hubby was involved in a pretty bad accident last month at the Grand Prix in Houston, and he was lucky to walk away with only a broken right ankle, a concussion, and two fractured vertebrae.
However, the incident was still enough to convince him to hang up his helmet and retire.
Dario made the announcement on Twitter, and wrote:

“One month removed from the crash and based on the expert advice of the doctors who have treated and assessed my head and spinal injuries post accident, it is their best medical opinion that I must stop racing. They have made it very clear that the risks involved in further racing are too great and could be detrimental to my long term well-being. Based on this medical advice, I have no choice but to stop. Racing has been my life for over 30 years and it’s really tough to think that the driving side is now over.”

We’re definitely glad to hear that Dario is taking his health seriously and walking away before something even worse happens.
And it’s not all bad news, either! As we previously mentioned, Ashley came rushing to his bedside when he was injured after the crash and the two decided to give their marriage another shot!
Besides, Dario already won the Indy 500 THREE times! We’re pretty sure his place as one of the best drivers in recent memory is safe!
