Chicago Baby Cut From Mother's Womb Weeks Ago Has Died In His Father's Arms

This is such sad news to report…
The baby who was cut from his mother’s womb after she was killed several weeks ago in Chicago has died. Yovanny Jadiel Lopez, who spent his weeks-long life tethered to life support machines after his mother’s death, passed away in his father Yovany Lopez‘s arms on Friday morning, according to a statement from the family.

As we’ve reported, Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, the baby’s 19-year-old mother, was discovered dead on May 15, roughly three weeks after she had gone missing, and just weeks ahead of her due date for baby Yovanny.
According to authorities, mother and daughter Clarisa Figueroa, 46, and Desiree Figueroa, 24, were at the center of a plan to kill Ochoa-Lopez and take her child to raise as their own, after the elder Figueroa allegedly faked her own pregnancy. Both women have since been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated battery of a child under 13 based on the initial alleged attack on Ochoa-Lopez; though not official yet, it’s likely that the women’s charges will be upgraded to a second murder count now that baby Yovanny has passed away, too.
A family spokesman for the victims, Julie Contreras, shared the news of Yovanny’s death on Friday morning, revealing to the world that the infant’s cause of death was likely the “severe brain injury” sustained when he was forcibly removed from his mother’s womb. The death comes as something of a surprise for the family, because baby Yovanny had initially showed marked signs of improvement once he was finally taken to a hospital and helped by medical staff.

Amid all the horrible tragedy of a mother and son both being killed, the boy was able to be in his father’s arms in the moment he passed away. Add to that the fact that Chicago police have arrested and charged the likely suspects, and perhaps justice itself will be adequately served. An innocent mother and a precious baby boy are now dead, because two women decided to do the most horrible, unimaginable act possible.
Such an awful, awful tragedy… R.I.P. to Yovanny and his mother Marlen.
