'Bachelor' Alum Melissa Rycroft Is The Latest American Hit With Mystery Illness In The Dominican Republic!

Melissa Rycroft is suffering from an undiagnosed illness.

Enough is enough; what in the actual hell is going on in the Dominican Republic??
Bachelor alum Melissa Rycroft is thankfully feeling better after falling ill while on vacation on the Caribbean island. Her story is the latest in a string of seriously alarming reports of mysterious illnesses hitting tourists — many fatal.
On Tuesday, the 36-year-old took to Instagram to share a positive health update with fans after major stomach issues prompted her to take a trip to the doctor’s office.

It seemed like the Rycroft-Strickland family vacay was off to a pretty good start at first, as evidenced by the sweet group shots shared on social media (below):

But Rycroft’s smile turned quickly faded just two days in to the beach getaway, as she reportedly began experiencing an “upset stomach.”  Things got even worse upon returning home — and we’re not talking about a case of the post-vacation blues here.
A rep for the Dancing with the Stars champ spoke with ET and explained the timeline of how Melissa got sick:

“She got an upset stomach on the second day of vacation, but it passed. Once they came home, she got severe cramping. It has lasted for over a week, and she’s currently getting tested for possible parasites and any other infections. She’s assuming it’s something foodborne, but no one else in her family is ill.”

According to Rycroft’s rep, the reality TV star’s husband, Ty Strickland, and their three kids, Cayson, Ava and Beckett, did not report feeling under the weather after the trip.

After a couple of days passed and her condition remained more or less the same, the momma of three decided to get help and see a physician for some concrete answers. She wrote:

“After a really rough week, I have been put on a liquid diet, and given meds for my severe cramping. Fingers crossed this goes away in 3 days – doc says next step is a Parasite test if it doesn’t….?”

This brings us to Tuesday’s update, where Rycroft told her followers she got more blood work done and that new prescribed medications have begun to give her some relief.

Read her post (below):

“Update for everyone asking: More bloodwork done today. Plood pressure was 90/60 so they’re monitoring it.
But!!! New meds are making me feel so much better!!!
Test results by Thursday at the latest!!
But this is good progress!!”

While we definitely agree that this in fact good news, we’re still very concerned by the fact that neither we nor Melissa have any idea of what’s going on.
Another source tells the outlet that she “still does not have a diagnosis.”

It’s going to be really tough for the D.R. to manage its PR crisis now that yet another scary story has been reported.
Tourism Minister Francisco Javier Garcia said about the recent string of unexplained deaths earlier this month:

“In the last five years, over 30 million tourists have visited the Dominican Republic, but this is the first time the international media report such an alarming situation. These are isolated incidents and the Dominican Republic is a safe destination.”

Could Melissa’s case just be a typical stomach bug or is something larger going on here?
