The Bachelor may finally be over but there’s still one last theory about Peter Weber‘s journey that needs clearing up!
Weeks before we knew how the 28-year-old airline pilot’s season ended, fans latched on to several theories about who would receive his final rose. There were a few obvious choices like frontrunners Hannah Ann Sluss and Madison Prewett, who’d later become the show’s two finalists. But quite a few people were convinced there was romance brewing between Pete and his producer Julie LaPlaca — and now she’s setting the record straight!

Before we get to that, it’s worth taking a look back at how we got to this juicy theory in the first place! Last month, Reddit users surmised Peter and Julie were secretly in a relationship after his father, Peter Sr., shared a family photo of the Webers out to dinner at Carmine’s in New York City — LaPlaca included!
Then, speculation grew further when Julie shared this pic of herself ringing in 2020 with a very familiar figure (believed to be Peter) seen in the background:
At the time, ABC executive Robert Mills added fuel to the fire when he entertained the possibility of this outcome and told Entertainment Tonight:
“Well, I hate to get in the way of a good rumor, so I’m not going to confirm or deny about whether he ends up with a producer! I don’t know how we’d ever top that though! But, it is crazy.”
Hmm, ok. So, what’s the real deal here??
On Friday, LaPlaca shared another shot of herself celebrating New Year’s Eve at Times Square in New York City and used the caption to address one of Bachelor Nation’s biggest rumors, writing:
“Yes that was @pilot_pete in the tan jacket, no we didn’t kiss at midnight. But whoever ends up as his copilot for life is one lucky lady, because this guy has a heart of gold ❤️✈️ #TheBachelor”
Ahh, there you have it! Just another red herring to throw us all off from predicting one of the wildest endings this show has ever seen. Longtime host Chris Harrison also recently denied the rumors, telling David Spade on his late-night show:
“We can categorically say that’s a big no.”
He further clarified:
“Julie is the producer. Nothing there.”
If we’re being honest, we’re not totally surprised by this and it’s probably for the best!! As you’re likely aware by now, Pete could probably use a break in the love department after a failed engagement to Hannah Ann and a short-lived relationship with Madison ended earlier this week.
As reported, Weber and Prewett announced they were amicably parting ways via joint statements on IG. It was hard to imagine the pair going the distance after the Bachelor’s mom Barbara Weber made it clear she didn’t support their relationship.
Better luck next time, dude!
