The big announcement was made on Good Morning America, just days after popular blogger Reality Steve teased Crawley was being considered for the role. The 38-year-old hairstylist from Sacramento, CA beat rumored former contestants Tayshia Adams, Tia Booth, and Kelsey Weier.

Still in shock from landing the coveted spot as rose-handler, Crawley admitted on GMA:

“I literally just found out. So unexpected, can you believe this? Six years later? What is happening?”

As she pointed out, fans first met Clare six years ago when she competed on season 18 of The Bachelor, starring Juan Pablo Galavis, in 2014. The starlet finished among the final two contestants and is remembered for her infamous breakup/exit where she told the controversial lead she’d “lost respect” for him.

After epically excusing herself from the competition, she’d later go on to search for a potential mate on seasons 1 and 2 of Bachelor in Paradise. Unfortunately, Crawley struck out both times. In 2018, she gave the franchise another shot and appeared on Bachelor Winter Games, where she met and fell in love with French-Canadian Benoit Beauséjour-Savard. The pair got engaged on the show’s live reunion special, but split after two months together.

Now, Clare is more than ready to find her happily ever after! On the type of man she’s looking for this time around, the four-time reality star admitted:

“I want a man that will take off his armor. I want a man that is strong but is willing to take off the body armor, open themselves up and be vulnerable. I think that is some serious strength right there.”

Claire continued, noting she’s more aware of what she wants and needs from a relationship:

“The biggest thing for me is, honestly, it’s all what’s on the inside for me. The outside, if you line up all the guys I’ve dated in the past, there’s no one type physically. It’s more if they go out of their way for me, if they make me feel special. This is about me now. I’m ready for it.”

She also had a message for anyone concerned about her age! Clare considers herself “young at heart” and doesn’t see her years of dating experience as a bad thing:

“I feel like a lot of people put it out there as this negative thing. For me, it’s just more years under my belt. More years learning and knowing what I want and what I won’t settle for.”

Yasssss!

After the heavy criticism of young and immature contestants on recent seasons of the franchise, we’re certainly interested to see this seemingly mature and grounded upcoming iteration of the show.

Not to mention, her journey feels very similar to former lead Nick Viall, who also had multiple stints on the franchise before being named Bachelor. His engagement to winner Vanessa Grimaldi didn’t end up going the distance, but we hope Crawley has better luck on her season!

A premiere date has not yet been set for season 16 of The Bachelorette, but Perezcious readers, will U be tuning in??
