We guess we finally know what’s going on between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner… nada! She made that clear with a pretty overt public statement! And not the kind with words!
OK, to recap… Buzz about a possible SECOND Bennifer reconciliation has been at an all-time high the past week or so. A source said last week Ben “would love another chance” with the 13 Going On 30 star. And those pics came out in which he grabs Jen her tight as they share a laugh at son Samuel‘s paintball bday party. It looked pretty friendly — and had a lot of folks wondering…
We heard Jen’s current boyfriend John Miller was affected by the pics, too. Not necessarily that he believed there was anything going on behind his back… But that he was concerned about her commitment to him because of what the pics communicate — what the behavior communicates — to the world at large. A source claimed he gave Jen an ultimatum about how she acted with Ben.

Well, we guess she heard him. Because this is as definitive a statement as she could make without actually addressing the rumors (which, as we all know in this business, would breathe more life into them).
On Friday, DailyMail.com got photos of Jen and John going out in public for a fairly rare outing. And even less common? They were holding hands and kissing! Eyewitnesses explained the pics were from earlier in the week, as the couple — clearly very much still a couple — went on a casual date to the Brentwood Country Mart. As they walked, they were “holding hands and kissing” — just “very cute with one another,” per the source:
“They are still going strong and appear to be doing really well. They looked happy and at ease like they were a married couple that is thriving. They laughed and smiled at each other. Very cute.”
Like a married couple? How so? They added:
“Both were dressed casually and she had no makeup on, her hair down. He had on a coat and jeans… They held hands and kissed and looked like a very normal couple with no Hollywood weirdness.”
Hmm. We’re not sure WTF they mean by Hollywood weirdness. Like they expected them to be buying a sex swing at Frederick’s? Odd commentary for an onlooker who presumably lives in or near Brentwood. Anyway, you can see the pics for yourself at the outlet. But let’s talk about what they mean…
We cannot remember the last time we saw Jennifer Garner and her boyfriend actually looking this affectionate. We mean, they aren’t seen together in public that often at all. But adding in all the PDA? And it just so happens to come on the heels of all the talk about Ben trying to win her back? Y’all, this is spin. Smart, classy, relaxed spin, but PR damage control all the same. We can’t help but wonder if it’s to put John’s mind at ease. But it definitely communicates something to Ben.
Look, maybe the Good Will Hunting star never really intended to try to get back with his baby momma. Maybe that was all projection from fans. But if he did, he’s now been given a big ol’ stop sign.
