Billie Eilish isn’t mad; she’s disappointed.
The Grammy winner took to social media on Thursday to call out the multiple YouTube users who have apparently been pretending to be her for content.
In a post on her Instagram Stories, the 18-year-old shared screenshots of a video featuring a lookalike dressed as the superstar walking on a boardwalk while flanked by “security guards.” Explaining that impersonating her for clicks was not just rude, but potentially dangerous, Billie wrote:
“Please stop doing this s**t. It is not safe for you and it is mean to people who don’t know any better… you make me look bad.”
To prove her point, the Bad Guy singer shared screenshots with titles like, “Turned My Girl Into Billie Eilish—Got Mobbed/Shut Down Mall,” and “I Met Billie Eilish At The Mall (She Was So Rude),” writing:
“Please… stop.”
And while the potential defamation of character is concerning, Billie went on to reveal what she finds especially “disrespectful” about this doppelganger epidemic: the fact that the lookalikes go out portraying her while wearing grey socks.
Sharing a closeup of the dull socks, she joked:
“Also soooo disrespectful that you’d go out pretending to be me wearing this.”
LOLz!

It appears her statement is already working. Since being called out, the creator of the video, Jordan Matter, removed the footage and other related content. However, he did try to defend his video in a lengthy statement on Instagram, writing:
“Hello everyone. You’ve been commenting on the video shoot I did yesterday, and I’d like to respond. I gathered a crowd and had an acrobat pretending to be Billie do a huge cheer flip, which revealed it was not Billie. I had absolutely no intention of disrespecting Billie. I’m a big fan, like everyone else. I’ve never done a celebrity impersonation video before, but they’re pretty common so I thought it would be fun to add my own acrobatic twist. I felt it was completely harmless since at no time in the video are we pretending that she is actually Billie. I have reached out directly to Billie and [her mother] Maggie and apologized, and I will not post the video without their permission. I hope this clarifies everything.”
The photographer posted a pic from the video showing his Billie impersonator doing acrobats, but only “to show everyone what we were doing.” He added that he was “not pretending this is Billie. That was not the intention.”
So for anyone planning on publicly portraying Billie in the future, make sure you don’t disrespect the green-haired goddess: be nice to people… and wear some dope socks.
