Billy Ray Cyrus‘ disastrous inauguration performance was all due to his… changing voice? Huh?
If you missed it, Miley Cyrus‘ dad gave a rough performance at Donald Trump‘s Liberty Ball last week. It was full of technical difficulties, such as his guitar not working and him barely singing. He was then forced to sing a cappella as all the sound cut out and he awkwardly wandered around the stage and complained to the tech crew. He quickly went viral on social media as people speculated what led to the poor performance.
His adopted son Trace later came out of the woodwork to plead with him to seek help for unspecified issues. That has ignited a whole new Cyrus family feud — with the Achy Breaky Heart singer even threatening legal action against Trace! Damn.

Regardless of whether or not Trace’s concerns are warranted, there’s no arguing the performance did NOT go off without a hitch. Billy’s already insisted that the equipment wasn’t working right, causing all the issues, but now a source is opening up about what was supposedly really getting the better of him!
Speaking to People on Saturday, an insider claimed the 63-year-old Hannah Montana alum was very self-conscious about his voice, they dished:
“His voice has changed, and he’s been really insecure about it.”
But even though he had hesitations about the gig, he went ahead with it because it was an honor to be invited by the convicted felon, the confidant furthered:
“[He was] going out and stepping out on stage with his voice, putting himself in a vulnerable situation and showing the world that his voice has changed.”
Hmm…
That would account for why he wasn’t really singing at the start of the performance! He was trying to hide behind the backing track, we guess. And he is aging. Perhaps his voice is a little raspier than usual — but, if alcohol is his vice, that’s not good for a singer’s voice either. Is his insecurity really the only thing that was affecting him?!?
We mean, the vibes were off during the whole performance! And it wasn’t that he seemed nervous. He just seemed out of it in a very concerning way! Maybe this was his nerves getting the better of him? Or maybe there’s more to the story…
