Blake Lively Was The One Who Pushed For Her It Ends With Us Character To Be 'Sexier', Says Justin Baldoni -- Not Him!

Justin Baldoni swears he never tried to make Blake Lively appear “sexier” during filming for It Ends With Us!

In the director/star’s bombshell libel lawsuit against The New York Times, filed on Tuesday, he clapped back at several sexual harassment accusations from his co-star, including that he “inappropriately” pushed for her character Lily Bloom to dress “sexier.” Justin claimed it was actually BLAKE who decided on her more alluring wardrobe — not him! The suit alleged:

“Likewise, the allegation that Baldoni inappropriately described Lively’s character’s attire as ‘sexy’ is exaggerated and misleading.”

He mentioned that Blake claimed to feel “‘unsafe’” when he used the word “‘sexy’” when they once talked about “a wardrobe adjustment” for the movie. However, he alleged that she indicated verbally and via text that she wanted her character’s attire to be sexy. And yes, the 40-year-old filmmaker has receipts to back his claim!

In a text sent by Blake to Justin on May 17, 2023, she does advocate for wearing what she deemed a “sexier” item, writing:

“Will show you both ways but beanie is much sexier. It’s the look. Feels tv without. Especially with a crop top in the snow. It justifies the rest of the skin. And also is a girl i would check out walking down the street because it washes the effort off the rest of the look.”

So, when Justin then “later used the word ‘sexy,’” he argued that “he was just responding to her creative input, not objectifying her personally.” Blake, the Jane the Virgin alum claimed, ultimately “set the tone that Baldoni heeded during the creative process.” That said, Justin acknowledged there was a time he may have overstepped.

Remember, quickly into filming, fans and Sony had concerns about Blake’s “unflattering” wardrobe in the film. Justin previously claimed the backlash was coming from the distributor, but there was an instance in which he had to apologize to his leading lady for upsetting her when suggested her character would look “sexier” if she removed an oversized coat for one scene. The lawsuit detailed:

“For a scene in which all the characters wore onesies, Lively opted to wear a large coat over hers, obscuring the outfit. Baldoni, as the Film’s director, suggested she remove the coat, explaining that the look would be ‘sexier’ without it. Lively took offense to the comment and appeared upset, interpreting it negatively rather than as creative direction. Feeling he had upset her, Baldoni apologized, despite having made a professional suggestion as director.”

Hmm…

This is yet another not-so-great look when it comes to Blake Lively and her case against Justin, but it’s clearly complicated AF!
