It looks like misogyny is still alive and well in the sports world.
Anyone who has ever tuned into a football game probably knows that Erin Andrews is one of the best sideline reporters in the business. However, she was criticized earlier this week when she asked pitcher Adam Wainwright some tough questions after his rough outing at the MLB All-Star game.
Of course, Erin was simply doing her job, but unfortunately Boston radio host Kirk Minihane felt the need to bash her with some disgusting comments, saying:
“What a bitch. I hate her. What a gutless bitch. Seriously, go away. Drop dead. I mean seriously, what the hell is wrong with her? I hate her. I seriously hate her so much.”
Wow. That is absolutely awful.
Like we said, Erin was simply doing her job like the professional she is, and luckily Massachusetts’ state attorney general Martha Coakley when she came to her defense, saying:
“I think that’s pretty unacceptable in this day and age. Here’s a professional woman, doing her job, obviously we can all be criticized for what we do but we should be able to do it without those kind of disgusting, uncalled for and frankly outrageous comments. Everybody understands fair criticism, but when it becomes personal, when it’s demeaning, and when it goes over the line as this did, that language is inexcusable and it’s offensive.”
We couldn’t agree more!
Erin has yet to respond to Kirk’s despicable comments, and that might be a good thing! Not only does she NOT have to explain herself, but at this point he doesn’t even deserve a response!
