Brad Pitt has no plans to file a legal response to Angelina Jolie‘s divorce petition. But, why??
Well, apparently, the Fight Club actor feels that by responding to the divorce filing he will spark a nasty legal battle between himself and his estranged wife — a situation he doesn’t want to drag his children into.

According to TMZ, the 52-year-old’s answer was due to be filed on Wednesday. However, Pitt let the deadline come and go as he’s trying to avoid a custody war. Sources claim that since Brad wants joint legal and physical custody of his brood, which is the exact opposite of Angie’s desire for sole physical custody, filing a response could force their respective legal teams to start drawing up battle lines. Eek!
Now here’s the risk, by not answering the Oscar winner’s petition, the court could give Angelina a default judgment and Brad could get nothing. Although, that outcome looks very unlikely as Miz Jolie wants to focus on healing their family after the alleged plane incident.
Not to mention, the Department of Children and Family Services is still investigating what went down between the Allied actor and his son Maddox. It’s said Pitt will have a much stronger case if he waits to file an answer until after the DCFS concludes their investigation. Smart move!
Reportedly, both Brad and Angelina are hoping to settle their split as privately as possible. We can only imagine the private A-listers would dread having their divorce documents played out in the press. We’re sending the entire Jolie-Pitt clan support during this trying time!
