Look, we’d say “spoiler alert” — but it’s too late for all that. This doesn’t happen in the movie at all, it apparently already happened!
The first trailer for Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, the fourth installment in the rom com series, reveals Renee Zellweger‘s Bridget — last seen getting married to Mark Darcy, the father of her baby — is now a widow!
That’s right. They killed Colin Firth offscreen!

Colin will still appear in the film, only in flashbacks. Instead of that relationship being Bridget’s endgame, she’ll have three other men vying for her affections. The hunky Leo Woodall from White Lotus, the charming Chiwetel Ejiofor, and of course… Hugh Grant is back as the dastardly Daniel Cleaver. Just, you know, not her perfect guy who likes her just the way she is to end up with. Damn.
