How can something as ubiquitous as cleavage ever be “over”???
And yet British Vogue dared to ask such a thing in a new piece on the site, noting that new fashion trends, like the pussy-bow blouse, seemed to minimize the appearance of cleavage.
They wrote:
“Take Alicia Vikander at the Golden Globes in high-necked Louis Vuitton this year, or Gucci‘s modern spin on the prim pussybow blouse. The Wonderbra is no longer the frontrunner of department store sales lists and even the corset has had a cleavage-free makeover at Prada.”
The magazine also asked readers to vote on a poll (below):
Is The Cleavage Over? As @KathleenBM explores the topic in #decembervogue, what’s your take on covering up? https://t.co/Yk7QVcoHt8
— VOGUE.CO.UK (@BritishVogue) November 2, 2016
The votes were overwhelmingly in favor of cleavage, and some readers responded to the tweet with indignation:
@BritishVogue @KathleenBM who the fuck cares? What century are we living in again? I’ll wear what I damn well please.

@BritishVogue @KathleenBM also “the cleavage” is a body part you tryna make women get reductions bc they’re insecure?
— griselda blanco (@SavageRampage) November 2, 2016
@BritishVogue @KathleenBM who gives a flying %$#%? Why is this even a question? I have cleavage whether I want it or not. Do one.

@BritishVogue yet this is the standard you’ve been pushing in your magazines for years.
Let’s all conform now to this new “trend” ├░┼╕ΓäóΓÇ₧├░┼╕ΓäóΓÇ₧

@BritishVogue @KathleenBM how about you stop telling people what’s okay to do with their bodies? Just a suggestion.
— cadaver (@priscillalauren) November 2, 2016
@BritishVogue @KathleenBM do better than this vogue. focus on the clothes not body fascism. Tits are not an accessory
— pootlebynature (@jennymcgilvray) November 2, 2016
@BritishVogue @KathleenBM how about I have big breast and I dont give a fuck what you think I should do with them. They are my natural body
— Lyndsi Jones (@foxeslovecheese) November 2, 2016
@BritishVogue @KathleenBM ya let me go chop off my tits real quick
— taychan♡ (@tayylorchan) November 2, 2016
@BritishVogue @KathleenBM this is maybe the stupidest poll I have ever seen in my entire life 😂
— EmTay♡ (@EmilyTaylor73) November 2, 2016
@BritishVogue @KathleenBM pretty sure my body isn’t a trend sorry but not sorry my cleavage is there covered or not #sorrynotsorry

In the mag’s defense, they didn’t exactly declare cleavage was over, they just asked if showing it wasn’t as popular as it used to be.
Rest assured, Perezcious readers, cleavage will NEVER be over in our book! LOLz!
