Britney Spears‘ ongoing conservatorship is a lot stricter than any of us might have realized.
As fans know, the 38-year-old singer’s father, Jamie Spears, has controlled her financial assets and career under the legal order since 2008. And according to an Us Weekly insider, the pop songstress had every intention of starting a family with her boyfriend Sam Asghari late last year but she was unable to because her dad ultimately decided against it!

The source explained how the big decision went down in court, noting:
“Britney told the probate investigator late last year she wanted to have a baby. Her dad had always been against Britney getting pregnant.”
The Piece Of Me singer already has teenage two sons, Jayden James and Sean Preston Federline, from her previous relationship with ex Kevin Federline. However, Britney and Sam have been dating since they met on the set of her Slumber Party music video in late 2016. After nearly four solid years together, it’s understandable they’d want to take a new step in their relationship. But while most would think an engagement, Brit and her man had other thoughts.
We mean, Jamie has given himself a hefty monthly allowance for overseeing her multi-million dollar estate, her personal affairs, her relationships, and even her taxes. Yet, he feels it necessary to make decisions about her body and right to procreate, too?
This isn’t the first time the 67-year-old patriarch has thrown a wrench in his daughter’s plans. In fact, the resentment between them has grown so much over the years the pop icon allegedly threatened to boycott performing and music-making just to stick it to her controlling father. We can imagine this gross misuse of power is just another reason why Brit wants out of the situation.
Each year, the probate court convenes to justify the Spears family’s reasoning for continuing the conservatorship, which began after Britney’s widely publicized meltdown in ’08. For more than a decade now, judges have ruled that Jamie should maintain jurisdiction over her life along with Britney’s care manager, Jodi Montgomery. And in case you didn’t know, Jodi’s been handling things because Jamie had to step down due to “personal health reasons” last fall. We know, a mess.
Back in May 2019, the outlet reported that Britney was “exploring formally petitioning the court to end the conservatorship.” However, the judge in the case issued an order last week that authorized Montgomery to remain as conservator until August 22. The extension was made because California courts are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, so hearings are postponed until further notice.
Hopefully, Brit will be able to advocate for herself and her personal freedom again at some point soon! What do U think of all of this, Perezcious readers? Let us know (below) in the comments…
