This is just so unfathomably tragic!
A musician shot four people at a house party last night in a trendy area of Brooklyn — fatally wounding three — before turning the gun on himself.
Two of the men he killed were brothers and members of The Yellow Dogs — an Iranian band that migrated to New York to pursue their rock and roll dreams. It’s believed the gunman was a disgruntled ex-member of the same band.
Officials say it appears the killer was kicked out of the band over money matters, but an investigation into his motives is still underway.
He found the brothers in their East Williamsburg row house and reportedly used an “assault-style rifle” to commit the crimes. He shot and killed the brothers and also a third musician from an Iranian band called the Free Keys. Another artist was shot at the same location, but thankfully only wounded.
The gunman then ascended to the roof of their home and killed himself with the very same weapon.
A photographer and friend of the band described The Yellow Dogs. He said:
“Originally they were from Iran, and they just wanted to play rock music. And you can’t do that there, so they managed to make their way over here.”
This is just such an incredibly sad story. Our thoughts and well-wishes go out to the victims, their friends and families, and all of the band’s fans.
